Small update

1.  When do kids start having imaginary friends?  Matthew informed me while we were in a tool store that his friend Jack was following us around the store.  I thought he was telling me about my friend Jane’s son whom he played with a couple of weekends ago.  But, no, Jack rode in the car home with us, ran into CVS while I got Emma’s medication, and he played with Matthew yesterday afternoon before Jon got home from work.

2.  Jon’s effectively been laid off.  He works until May 1.  Anyone know of any Electrical Engineering jobs???

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was an eventful weekend day for us. Matthew had a blast. He spent a couple of hours next door at Amy’s while I went to the dojo. After a nice, quiet nap, he got up and played for a bit while we waited for Daddy to come home. And then it was time to get dressed. Our ninja turtle was a happy little guy when he got to put his costume on. Daddy took him out for about 40 minutes and he came back with a bucket full of candy. Emma stayed home with me to pass out candy. Aren’t they cute? More pictures can be found at our photo gallery.

TMNT jack-o-lantern

Matthew’s costume is mostly handmade. The sweatsuit and tank top were purchased. The tank top was dyed to be his turtle belly. Sword and mask were also purchased. When I get a better shot, I will post the shell. It’s the first time I’ve sewn something like that. It isn’t half-bad, if I do say so.

Where does he get these things?

Me:  Matthew, how ’bout you eat some of your peas.

Matthew:  Um…how ’bout I’m all vegged out.

Birthday Party

I just thought I’d put it out here after a long day that Matthew had an awesome birthday party!!!  We had most of the family in person, and the rest in spirit.  I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone that came.  Also, a HUGE thank you goes to my Mom for bringing a perfect birthday cake.  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with Leo was all Matthew has talked about since his actual birthday 2 weeks ago.  He was also thrilled with all of the gifts he received.

Thank you all!

I will post a link to pictures as soon as I get them up.

Doctor Appointments

Big day for us yesterday!!! Doctor appointments!!!

This was Matthew’s 3 year check-up. He’s weighing in at 31 pounds and 35.75 inches. His weight is in at the 10th percentile and weight is just shy of the 50th percentile. He’s getting so big!!!

This was Emma’s 2 month check-up. Wow, she’s getting big! Our little girl is weighing in at 12 pounds 5 ounces and 23.5 inches long. Her length is in the 90th percentile and her weight is in the 90th percentile. She’s not so little anymore. 🙂

Poor girl also had to get 3 shots! Oh how she screamed. And then she almost slept for the rest of the day. I think she work up 3 times to eat and I didn’t hear a peep out of except for those times. Hopefully today will be better for her. I hate giving the kids the shots, but they need them.

Happy Birthday!!

I don’t know where the time has gone, but 3 years ago today Matthew was born. Our lives changed forever. We had no clue what were were in for, but despite any rough days, he has been a joy and a really great little boy. He surprises us daily with the things he learns. His speech is way beyond anything I would have expected. He uses phrases and words correctly that some adults can’t use…also, too, “check it out,” certainly, appreciate.

He loves colors so much. Each of us has our favorite color, or at least what he’s assigned to us. Mommy is purple and green, Daddy is blue, Emma is pink, Baili is brown, and all the other colors are his. He has tried to only eat the colored Fruit Loops that are his colors…until he asked for more even though there was a full bowl of cereal. Silly boy.

We will spend today doing some of Matthew’s favorite things. Burger King for lunch and then we’re off to the dojo. Jon has 2 hours of class that he would like to attend, which is fine with Matthew. He loves to visit the dojo and to run around the large, springy floor. The area echoes, so his screams and giggles fill the space. Suino Sensei is one of Matthew’s favorite people. He draws Sensei pictures, which Sensei hangs in the dojo for everyone to see. After class is over, Sensei will chase Matthew around the mats. We always have a great time! We won’t be having cake tomorrow, but there will be brownies and ice cream. As part of Matthew’s birthday, we thought he would enjoy a trip to the zoo. Monday we plan to take our family on a small road trip to the Toledo Zoo.

In a couple of weeks, we’ll have a birthday party with all of our families. Our theme is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Grandma Ware is making the cake and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with. Matthew is very excited and can’t wait for his party. We have to keep telling him that the cake isn’t showing up today.

3 years ago today, at 2:28pm, Matthew joined our family. It was a lot of hard work, and still is some days. But a day doesn’t go by that he says or does something so new and precious, that I stop in awe. He is a very bright light in our lives. Happy Birthday buddy!!!

Music

The song I’ve added to the lower left column is Matthew’s favorite. He loves to sing the “No No Song.” I finally went out and bought the CD because he would ask for it every car ride.
