Happy Halloween!

Halloween was an eventful weekend day for us. Matthew had a blast. He spent a couple of hours next door at Amy’s while I went to the dojo. After a nice, quiet nap, he got up and played for a bit while we waited for Daddy to come home. And then it was time to get dressed. Our ninja turtle was a happy little guy when he got to put his costume on. Daddy took him out for about 40 minutes and he came back with a bucket full of candy. Emma stayed home with me to pass out candy. Aren’t they cute? More pictures can be found at our photo gallery.

TMNT jack-o-lantern

Matthew’s costume is mostly handmade. The sweatsuit and tank top were purchased. The tank top was dyed to be his turtle belly. Sword and mask were also purchased. When I get a better shot, I will post the shell. It’s the first time I’ve sewn something like that. It isn’t half-bad, if I do say so.

Update on Emma

For those of you who know what’s going on, I thought I’d let everyone know that Emma is doing well.  She was discharged from the hospital today.  I created another blog to help keep track of what’s going on with her…what she’s doing, her diagnosis, development, and anything related to her illness.  You can find it at

For those of you who don’t know what’s going on, I’ll be posting the Emma’s story so far in the next couple of days.

Doctor Appointments

Big day for us yesterday!!! Doctor appointments!!!

This was Matthew’s 3 year check-up. He’s weighing in at 31 pounds and 35.75 inches. His weight is in at the 10th percentile and weight is just shy of the 50th percentile. He’s getting so big!!!

This was Emma’s 2 month check-up. Wow, she’s getting big! Our little girl is weighing in at 12 pounds 5 ounces and 23.5 inches long. Her length is in the 90th percentile and her weight is in the 90th percentile. She’s not so little anymore. 🙂

Poor girl also had to get 3 shots! Oh how she screamed. And then she almost slept for the rest of the day. I think she work up 3 times to eat and I didn’t hear a peep out of except for those times. Hopefully today will be better for her. I hate giving the kids the shots, but they need them.

Emma Grace

Ok, so it’s been 2 weeks and I don’t know how that happened. I meant to post this a week ago and lost track of the time. She is such a good little girl.

She sleeps for most of the day. Her nights are getting better. The first couple of nights she woke up frequently from 1am to 5am. She won’t sleep in her bassinet. We’ve tried the car seat and she did sleep better in there, but it wasn’t great. So far, the best place she likes to sleep is the swing.

She has gotten the hang of nursing. However, she is a snacker. I’m lucky if once a day she has a good sized meal. The other times she only nurses for 5 minutes or so. Emma has a knack for sensing when I have food in front of me, as well. It just never fails.

For pictures of my 2 beautiful kids, check out my gallery. There are quite a few albums for the kids, but the newest ones, including Emma, can be found in the Kids 2007 (May – August) album.
